The left in general, the cultural classes, and the global media are increasingly scandalized by what they consider the “rise of the far right” in the world. It’s Donald Trump. It’s Javier Milei. It’s Jair Bolsonaro. It’s a bunch of other people who “threaten” to win free elections, do in government what the majority wants to be done, and bring logic back to political life. The way they see it, all these things will wipe human civilization off the face of the Earth – it will be the end of democracy and the victory of fascism, racism, homophobia, as well as hatred of foreigners, “women,” and Indigenous people. What the left, communicators, and intellectuals have flatly refused to do so far is ask two key questions: why do all these Trumps, Mileis, and Bolsonaros exist, after all, and why do so many people want to vote for them? None of the three was sent to the world by Divine Providence to punish humanity for their sins. Nor are they the product of the “climate crisis.” They did not come from outer space. No one asks those questions because no one wants to hear the obvious answer: the “danger” of the right was entirely made up by the left itself and its neuroses. The most aggressive of them being the demand that people just quit thinking.
It is a massive movement to suppress the free and rational exchange of ideas, in which one says something, another argues the opposite, and the majority of listeners decide who is right. Instead, philosophers, global-socialist billionaires, and the press – who claims to be “serious” – have created a totalitarian thought system in which participating in a debate means to agree with whatever they say. What about the right to have your own opinion about something? It is not available to anyone. Not only is disagreeing forbidden, but also immediately punished by indictment for the crimes of right-wing extremism, fascism, Nazism, machismo, racism, xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia, and “hate speech” in general, just to stick to the basics. The new doctrine, above all, does not admit the existence of facts. (See the cover story of this issue.) Facts are now the major “suspects” for the left and their vision of the “civilizing process.” If facts dispute such vision, they automatically represent “fascism” and, instead of being challenged by a deep examination of reality, they must be suppressed from public debate altogether.
When the people listen carefully to what the so-called “quality” media says about Donald Trump and the electoral campaign in the United States, it is only natural that a figure like him still stands. Basically, nothing makes sense. In other words: if that’s what the media is saying about him and his opponent, then it’s clear that Trump is the right name to be elected president. The truth is that journalists, celebrities, and opponents tell the people a story other than what the people actually see or, even worse, the exact opposite of what is before their eyes, and not just about Trump and the campaign but, increasingly, about any subject. People are accused of being racist without ever having practiced an act of racism in their lives – just because they are not black. People don’t have the right to say that men and women are biologically different beings. People are accused of being sociopaths for thinking that people with more talent, merit, and work experience deserve indeed the rewards they have obtained.
People cannot oppose illegal immigration, attacks on their culture, and the mutilation of children whose parents consider confused about their own gender. People are forbidden to acknowledge the Seven Dwarfs as dwarfs, Snow White as white, and Agent 007 as a man.
The result of this general attempt to obliterate reasoning leads more and more people to think that what they are told is so grossly false, irrational, and idiotic that the truth can only be the opposite of it. The stature that Trump has today in the United States and Bolsonaro has today in Brazil are possibly the most evident proof of the general reverse effect law in politics: the more the left and the self-proclaimed civilized world want to mold a reality, the greater the chances they will accomplish the opposite of what they are aiming for. They sustain, for example, that Trump promotes “hate speech”, as if it were a scientific fact; according to The New York Times, it is something as indisputable as the Earth’s rotation movement. But when you spare just a minute to look at real life, it is Trump who has just taken a shot that only by a miracle did not go through his head. “How is it possible,” the average citizen thinks, “that Trump is accused of encouraging violence if it is Trump himself that they are trying to assassinate?” By the way: what does he say, word for word, that can be rationally described as hate speech? What has he ever said that is worse, say, than what Lula says all the time about Bolsonaro? It doesn’t add up.
This massive effort to suppress facts has been in place for years and is becoming increasingly desperate. It is only natural, then, that a few billion individuals currently in full, or even not so full, enjoyment of their mental capacities reach conclusions that are increasingly contrary to those that the left wants to impose. Although people in general do not pay much attention to the nonsense they hear – as they have more to do in life than take journalists seriously –, they tend to realize, eventually, that they are being treated like suckers. Still in the case of the electoral campaign in the United States, they are now trying to create the mirage that President Joe Biden is a hero of world democracy for having given up running for re-election and passed on to the Vice President, Kamala Harris, the mission of “saving” humanity from the “destruction” that Trump is plotting. It’s all patently false. For two years Biden has demonstrated that his neurological system is in serious disrepair, as ship insurers say. For two years, his party, the arch-millionaires who present themselves as the new engines of philanthropy, and the “traditional” media have sustained the lie that he was at the peak of his statesman potential.
The main problem with all this is that they thought reality was what they wanted it to be. “The facts are us, not what is happening,” they told themselves and the paying audience. Trump, according to them, was finished – he is followed only by a minority of “fanatics,” he will adopt Nazism as the political system of the United States, and he has been bombarded in the courts like no one before him. Suddenly, they realized that the lies they have been upholding for years are just that – lies –, and that the consequence of their line of action would be Biden’s defeat in the November elections. From one moment to the next, their perfect candidate became a mortal risk to democracy – and was savagely massacred until he renounced his own candidacy. They now want to convince the same audience that Biden is again a hero, but that the possible heir to his candidacy, Vice President Kamala Harris, is even more of a heroine than he is. Biden was hailed by Harris and his party as an “incomparable” president – but if he is so incomparable, why didn’t they let him be the candidate? The official scam, from now on, is to convince people that there has never been anyone more suitable for the office of president than Kamala Harris – whom they describe as “moderate,” “pragmatic,” and “experienced.” In nearly four years in office, she has failed to formulate a single coherent thought. She failed at the only task she was given – to do something to deal with the invasion of her country’s territory by illegal immigrants. She has no other visible proposal than the defense of abortion.
How did one of the two major parties in the United States, which has already placed Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy in the presidency, approaches Kamala Harris – and say that she is the most suitable person to occupy the most difficult job in the world? This is the direct result of the decision, by so many people, to abandon the free debate of ideas, the observation of facts, and the competition between different points of view as instruments of political action. Instead, they propose that the world, rather than arguing, simply believe in whatever they say. Can we take it seriously that billionaires with no defined occupation present themselves today as champions in the fight for the poor and humble? Likewise, why is no one on the left and in its habitat willing to use arguments to debate any of Donald Trump’s ideas? There is nothing he says that cannot be challenged with reason – but the “civilized” universe can only repeat that Trump cannot exist as a politician or as a human being. Not one concrete fact is ever presented as evidence that he will eliminate the democratic regime in the United States, or that he promotes hate speech, or that he will start World War III. Instead, they prefer to have faith in Robert de Niro – and replace logical reasoning with hysteria.
It is the same method that is applied to Bolsonaro in Brazil – or to Milei, Giorgia Meloni, Marine Le Pen, Viktor Orban, and whoever else proves capable of representing any majority, anywhere in the world. The most frightening majority for the left is the mass that works, wants to improve their lives, and does not concede when they are told that two plus two equals twenty-two. This, more than anything else, is what scares today’s left: the real-life working class. Their leaders made a bad deal: they abandoned, years ago, the flesh-and-blood workers, whom they had always claimed to represent, and replaced them with Disney executives, illegal immigrants, and the transgender people’s “right” to use women’s bathrooms. They advocate for abortion, vaccines, and censorship of social networks. Their heroes are George Soros, Hamas, and the “climate change” fighters; in Brazil it is the Supreme Court. They want people to eat insects instead of meat, rice, and beans. They don’t want people to have children. They want agriculture to be replaced by natural vegetation. Above all, they don’t want to see that their clientele today is the minority – and that the right has become the legitimate representative of the working world. That is the issue. It is neither Donald Trump, nor Jair Bolsonaro.
